Dance for All

About 200 children - boys and girls - attend dance classes five afternoons a week, which are offered by "Dance for All" in several townships near Cape Town. The main building is in Athlone. The Honorary Life Patron of the organisation is Archbishop Emiritus Desmond Tutu. Lessons are given in ballet, African dance, jazz ballet, modern dance and Spanish dance.

Talented youngsters can attend the so-called Junior Training Programme. The most talented dancers of the Junior Training Program may be included in the Senior Training Program. Next for many promising young people who pursue careers in the dance world, there is the possibility of a training course at the University of Cape Town School of Dance.

Intabazwe Foundation sponsors Dance for All since 2006.

In 2009 Hanni and Jos visited Dance for All. We had agreed on Wednesday 18 March 18 at 15:00h in the main building in Athlone. We were warmly received by Director Philip Boyd. After we were introduced to a number of employees, we drove to the township Guguletho together to visit the Outreach Programme. Then we drove back to Athlone to watch the training of the Sub Junior and the Senior Training Programme. It was a very interesting afternoon and we met very friendly and enthusiastic people!
